De'Angelo Wilson, who played DJ Iz in the 2002 movie and appeared in an episode of CSI: NY, is believed to have hung himself according to Allhiphop.com.
The 29-year-old is thought to have taken his own life on November 26 at commercial premises in Los Angeles.
The star's mother did not have enough money to transport his body to the family home in Ohio so friends had to help finance the trip, according to the site.
